Hi, I'm Kevin.  I am currently the Security Operations Centre Manager at a company in Manchester.  I started my career back in the late 90s, and was a founding member of the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles fan club, Laceby Village, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire division.  I haven't not had a job since then thankfully, and I've had the pleasure to worth for four big companies doing big security, usually on a small budget.

I love security, probably because it's the black and white TV era - it's new, it's not fully formed, there's a lot to learn and a lot to create as the industry isn't very mature still.  It's also mildly terrifying because of those things.

The site is just off the shelf stuff with minor tinkering.  I like PHP though, I think it's pretty easy to pick up.  It has a bad security reputation but you can harden it - e.g. here AppArmor is running on the webserver, and the PHP config disables unused and risky functions.

I started my career back in the early 80's around the time of the first Pc's IBM 286's in Liverpool. I know I'm old. 🙂  Worked most of  that period in the North West as a field engineer for a 3rd party maintenance company repairing or refurbishing very old hard drive read/write heads and then having to re-align them. 
I have always enjoyed my work and mostly cut my teeth administering AV environments, Symantec, Kaspersky,  and now Sophos for SME's. This was good a grounding for my current role in Security Ops in which I do all it takes to protect and defend.

I'm Chrissi, more commonly known as Froot or Frootware. I'm currently a Junior Software Engineer at a Portuguese software house called Critical Software (who I really really love!! If you follow me on twitter you've probably seen me expressing how nice they be...), and I've involved myself with the community around infosec for the last year or so. I'm currently in the Manchester area but will soon be making a b i g move to Southampton due to work - any tips and tricks and information about the area would be very useful!

I'm interested in malware analysis and DFIR, as well as OSINT and social engineering. I keep planning and talking about an idea to do a "malware of the month" on my blog looking at (and breaking down) old malware samples, but that's waiting on me getting yet another laptop to build a separated malware lab. I'm working on a degree in Computer Science through the Open University as well.

I'm also a moderator in The Many Hats Club Discord server and I adventured around to a lot of conferences last year, and I'm lucky enough to be able to adventure to a new one this year (bring on DEF CON!).

I do a lot of defensive security stuff and tie in as much automation as possible. Hi everyone, 

I'm Anne, and have somehow been making a living in this industry for the last 11 years (I'm still waiting to be identified as a fraud any day now). I sit more in the people, policy, education and risk space of security and when I describe what I do, I generally say that I am a translator between the technical teams and business teams. I did my infosec initiation in the Information Security team of a large mutual financial organisation, and from there moved into a large multi-national as a senior consultant specialising in security policies and standards, risk management, training and awareness. Poached from there to a small consultancy and then asked back again by my previous employer. 

I'm relatively quiet security-wise publicly; I have twitter which mentions infosec in my bio but mostly I talk mental health, cats and swimming...aside from that I am co-author and contributing editor to a relatively respected industry publication, and I once gave a talk at BSides London on their first ever rookie track. I haven't been brave enough to stand up and talk again since...

Hey all! Arslan here (AKA Arszilla [I know it ain't creative. I came up with the name when I was 6 or so]). Been interested in reverse engineering and exploiting since I got my first laptop back in 2010; where I was trying to understand how cheats for some of my games (like Combat Arms) worked back then, and it's what peaked my interest in the field. (I guess I have MPGH and UnknownCheats to thank to).

I am a mathematics undergraduate from Turkey, in Turkey. Been actively lurking in the field for 1-1.5 years now, actively started working on stuff around 6 months ago on my winter break. I am mostly interested in red if not purple teaming, malware analysis and OSINT (who doesn't want to be a professional stalker from their home, right?). I plan to go after OSCP if I ever find the money or the job to get me the money but for now I'll be focusing on educating myself.

Hi everyone.  I'm Alan, but you knew that cos it says so right there. <--

Like many UK geeks around my age I started messing with computers circa 1983 with the humble ZX Spectrum, and a couple of decades later I've clearly come a long way as I'm currently waiting for a shiny new ZX Spectrum Next to arrive.  I've spent the intervening years taking things to bits to see how they work and occasionally putting them back together again.

My early hac- uh, exploring of computers other than my own was on PR1ME minicomputers (if anyone remembers those?) at college / university in the late 80s / early 90s.  After uni I landed a job in Tech Support, thus being dragged kicking and screaming into the PC world, and I've spent a good chunk of my adult life in and around various support / Wintel Sysadmin type roles ever since.  I've also dabbled with webdev back when editor of choice was Notepad, done bits of coding,  and had brief stints in management a couple of times (with hilarious consequences).

I moved into security earlier this year and am now an SME for a largish telecoms / managed services / cloud provider company.  I've spent most of my time in this role so far attempting to get my skill set back up to something vaguely approaching current (if you need an Exchange 2003 server fixing, I'm your guy), attending cons and generally suffering very badly from Impostor Syndrome.  It's dark and there are wolves.

When I'm not pushing buttons I'm a moderator on a mountain biking website [uh, Alan, that's still pushing buttons...], nurturing an escape room obsession and playing (OK, buying) board games.

I'm also aspie, so if I write something that can be taken one of two ways and one of those ways upsets or offends you, I probably meant the other one.  Probably.  (-:

Hey everyone!  I am currently a penetration tester and security consultant working full time at Security Innovation and part time for Open Security (not this website, but cool coincidence).  Have been in the InfoSec some time now after getting my start in the US Air Force.  Right now I am doing a lot of focus on mastering DevOps principles and trying to build security into business processes as early as possible.  Looking forward to talking to all of you.

Been in IT/security since 2002. Few years tech support/desktop support, many years sysadmin. Been involved in security both on personal time as well as within day-job duties since then as well. I have deep interests in both red and blue sides (and even dfir). I love being hands-on-keyboard technical, but also don't mind discussing security at higher levels or managing projects. Full time, life-long learner. I tend to gravitate a bit to the things I haven't done yet (so lately it's cloud-based security) or want to get even better with (appsecdev). Do some video games, tabletop games, and D&D on the side. OSCP a few years ago; CISSP many years ago. I bounce around. 🙂

My name is James and I'm the Vulnerability manager for a large retailer in Manchester (who would have though).  I've been working in security for nearly 10 years now covering both technical and GRC sides and in the last few years I've been lucky enough to achieve the likes of CISSP and CISM, so now I'm going to try my hand properly at pen testing :)

I’ve been a pen-tester, red teamer, SOC analyst  and vuln manager. These days gruelling GRC is unavoidable (send help!).

Highlight: Managing project to protect whistle blowers and exfiltrate data that the International Criminal Court is currently using to prosecute hideous war crimes.

Lowlight: Having to order the retirement of a public facing server that hadn’t been update for 30 years. Yes. 30. Years.
